Putin: Russia, Austria to develop trade, energy cooperation
MOSCOW, Apr 6 (PRIME) -- Russian and Austrian presidents Vladimir Putin and Heinz Fischer have agreed to activate the work of a commission on trade cooperation, Putin said Wednesday after the meeting.
“Unfortunately, as I already said at the beginning of our meeting, trade between Russia and Austria fell 24.5% to U.S. $3.2 billion in 2015. To a great extent, this is a result of crisis effects in the global economy, decreased global energy prices. The E.U. sanctions introduced against Russia and our forced retaliatory measures have contributed as well. We have agreed to activate the work of the Russian–Austrian commission on trade and economic cooperation in order to effectively solve occurring problems,” Putin said.
The sides have also agreed to develop energy cooperation, Putin said.
